WHAT IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep Tissue Massage focuses on deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using slower movements and more sustained pressure than a traditional relaxation massage.

Your therapist may spend additional time working through specific areas of tension rather than moving quickly through a full-body routine.

And while the name says deep, the pressure should still feel productive, not like something you have to endure.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your session will begin with a conversation about what you’re feeling, where you tend to hold tension and what kind of pressure feels best for your body.

Your therapist may work slowly through particularly tight areas, gradually increasing pressure as the tissue begins to soften.

Communication is always encouraged. Pressure can be adjusted throughout your session based on what your body needs that day.
BENEFITS
Here are just a few of the ways Deep Tissue Massage can support your physical and emotional health.

Physical Benefits:

Relieves Persistent Tension
Focused work can help soften tight, overworked muscles and areas that feel difficult to release.

Supports Mobility
Working with muscular tension may help your body move more comfortably and freely.

Encourages Circulation
Therapeutic warmth may increase blood flow to the treated areas and support the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the tissue.

Targets Specific Areas
Deep Tissue Massage allows your therapist to spend intentional time with areas that need a little more attention.

Supports Recovery
A helpful option for active bodies, repetitive movement patterns or muscles that regularly feel overworked.

Mental and Emotional Benefits:

Encourages Your Body to Let Go
Slow, intentional work gives your body time to respond rather than forcing it into relaxation.

Creates Space to Reconnect
Focused bodywork can help you notice where you’re holding tension and how your body responds when that tension begins to soften.

Supports a Grounded Sense of Relief
For some people, releasing long-held muscular tension creates a feeling of ease that extends beyond the treatment room.
WANT SOMETHING DEEPER?
Love deeper pressure but looking for a slightly different experience?

Explore two of our other approaches to deeper therapeutic bodywork.

DEEP STILLNESS MASSAGE

Deep pressure meets deep rest.

Deep Stillness combines comfortably deep pressure with extremely slow, broad strokes for an experience that is both therapeutic and profoundly calming.

It’s an especially good fit if you want deeper work without sacrificing the quiet, grounding feeling of a restorative massage.
ASHIATSU

Broad, sustained pressure for a different kind of deep tissue work.

During Ashiatsu, your therapist uses their feet to deliver smooth, consistent pressure across larger areas of the body. The result is deep therapeutic work that can feel broad and even rather than sharp or overly concentrated.

A great option for people who love deeper pressure and want to experience it in an entirely different way.
