WHY HOUSING? WHY NOW?
We chose the Watauga Housing Council as the beneficiary of this fundraiser because their mission speaks directly to both our values and our lived experience. At The Care Collective, we believe wellness begins with stability, and for many in our community, stable housing is out of reach.

This is personal for us. Several members of our team have spent years searching for affordable housing near Boone. Some have had to move off the mountain entirely. Others commute nearly an hour each way just to work here. We’ve even lost incredible potential employees due to the lack of accessible housing. It’s a challenge that impacts not just individuals, but the overall well-being of our community.
​
Watauga Housing Council is doing vital, on-the-ground work to change that. From supporting residents in mobile home parks hit hardest by the hurricane, to working toward selling cross-built homes that offer more affordable options, they are reimagining what housing can look like in our region. Supporting them means supporting our neighbors, our team, and the future of a more livable High Country.​
